Oboe

The oboe is a woodwind instrument containing a mouthpiece with a double reed, fitted onto a tube made of ebony which widens out into a bell shape on which is also fitted a system of metallic keys. Its length is 60 cm and it belongs to the woodwind instruments’ family. Its sound is expressive, with a somewhat melancholy timbre.

The study of the oboe is recognised by the State and affords its students a Certificate and Diploma. Duration of tuition is 7 years for the Certificate and the Diploma or 9 years for the Diploma, if a Certificate is previously obtained.

The classes, specifically, are as follows:
  • Elementary (1 year)
  • Lower (1 year)
  • Intermediate (2 years)
  • Advanced (3 years for the Certificate and 4 for the Diploma)
The student may directly obtain a Diploma in the fourth year of the Advanced Class or opt for the Certificate first in the third year of the Advanced class and a Diploma two years later.
